About Zyp.to

Development

Created in mid-2020 by myself as a technical proof of concept, zyp.to has become a bit of a passion project for me. A way to elevate my front-end skills as a primarily back-end developer and push myself to improve and learn new skills.

I'm a one-man team, spending my free time developing and working on this project. My goal is to develop a viable app people enjoy using, making it feature packed while keeping it super simple and easy to use. I am open to feedback, criticism and suggestions, you can send your thoughts my way through the contact form.

If you like what I'm doing and you're feeling generous, you can...

Real-time stats

Each short link has real-time statistics so you can track the links success and see vital information such as where a user is clicking on the link (referrer)* and where they are from (geographical location)*. A more detailed breakdown of total number of clicks, unique clicks, per day and by graph is also available*.

Smart shortened links

When you create a short link with zyp.to, a small and random short name is created for you such as zyp.to/fR5ev. Confusing characters have been removed from the algorithm which makes these so you won't have confusing short urls when they are said or printed. This includes characters like 0 (zero) and O (upper case o) or I (upper case i) and l (lower case L).

There is also the option to make your own short name for a link if you create a free account. This means you can change zyp.to/fR5ev to zyp.to/mylink or zyp.to/my-link-to-whatever.

Each short link created on zyp.to also has a QR code attached, which can be downloaded and shared alongside or instead of the short link. When a user scans the QR code, they will be taken to your short link which will track stats the same as if they clicked on your link.*

Current roadmap

This is a very high level overview of what is currently planned for development in the immediate to very near future and is subject to change, but will hopefully give a good idea of the direction of development. Updated on 29th April 2022

* feature is still currently in development, but will be available soon.
